Bio

Hey, it's Zack!  I'm a pianist/composer based in Richmond, VA. I graduated from The Jacobs School of Music (go Hoosiers!) with a Bachelors of Music in piano performance with a concentration in jazz.

I started playing piano when I was 6 years old, and was classically trained until I joined the community jazz band at Levine School in 8th grade.  Although I continued to play and enjoy other genres, a switch had been irreversibly flipped, and my love for jazz was born.  After 3 decades of playing, I continue to explore new styles and technicques to improve my craft.  Even on days off, I miss being at the keys.

Since moving to Richmond in 2021, I have found many exciting musical opportunities. I play with a variety of bands: Party Favors (cover/party band), Halfcast (scrap rock), Nucleus Trio (jazz), Willie DE Band (indie), Isabel Bailey Band (indie), i.d. jeter (hip hop), Uncle People (funk), Big Fancy (R&B), and Orion and the Melted Crayons (indie).  I play around Virginia and sometimes travel out of state.

New releases I'm involved with are on the way, so stay tuned, and I look forward to seeing you at a show nearby!
